Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

>> EDITORIAL STANDARTS:

Only unpublished articles written by authors with doctorate degrees (eg. Ph.D. or J.D. equivalent) will be accepted for publication. Exceptionally, articles by masters will be accepted, as long as they have a PhD as co-author or the research is financed by national or international funding agencies. The articles or works may be written in Spanish, French, English, Italian and French, according to the following format:

a) word file (.doc or .docx);

b) A4 size, vertical position;

c) Times New Roman font size 12;

d) justified alignment without separation of syllables;

e) spacing 1,5;

f) paragraph 2 cm;

g) direct quotations of up to three lines in the body of the text in quotation marks (NBR 10520:2002, item 5.2);

h) direct citations with more than three highlighted lines, with 4.0 cm indentation and Times New Roman font size 11 (NBR 10520:2002, item 5.3);

i) upper and left margins 3 cm, lower and right margins 2 cm;

j) The citations inside the text must obey the author/date formatting.

Articles should be submitted exclusively on the SEER platform following the system steps. All author identification elements should be removed.

If the article contains photographic images and/or graphic drawings, they should be submitted in original format, in separate files, not inserted in the text. The approximate place where the figures with the titles should be inserted should be indicated in the text file. The publication of articles is subject to prior approval by the Editors of the journal, after which they will be submitted to double blind review evaluation by at least two external reviewers. The final acceptance of the articles depends on the recommendation of the referees, the necessary adjustments by the author(s) and final approval by the Editorial Board. The manuscript should contain, in the following order:

a) Title of the text: in the original language and in English, highlighted only in italics and spelled as follows: in upper case only the first word of the title and proper names; and in lower case the other words of the title.

b) Qualification of the author(s): The submitted papers should contain data of academic qualification of the author, such as: name of the author, academic qualification with institutional affiliation (institutions to which he is linked as a teacher or student, as well as institutions where he obtained his academic titles, such as specialization, master's degree, doctorate, etc.) and professional, and e-mail. in a footnote related to the name of each;

c) Abstract: - The Abstract should be written in a single paragraph, between 100 and 150 words, accompanied by three keywords. The abstract and keywords in English should follow the same rules (ABNT NBR 6028);

d) Body text:

I) Introduction: Should contain the delimitation of the research problem, the research objectives and elements that contextualize the theme of the article to one of the research lines proposed by the Journal;

II) Development: Main part of the article that contains the ordered and detailed description of the central subject of the article (ABNT NBR 6024);

III) Conclusion/Result of the Research: Containing the answer to the problem question developed in the text with the conclusions of the author(s).

e) References: According to ABNT NBR 6023 rules.

 

>> DESK REVIEW:

All articles submitted to Revista Direito Mackenzie will undergo preliminary analysis, to be carried out by the Editorial Committee, to verify compliance with the mandatory formal requirements for submission, present in the Guidelines for Authors published on the journal's website.

The preliminary analysis will take place in two phases:

  • Initial phase: observation of compliance with the formatting requirements demanded in the Guidelines for Authors, as well as the absence of identification elements. If not complied with, the article may be rejected by the Editorial Committee;
  • Qualitative phase: will observe factors of originality, scope, methodology and originality of the texts, also by the Editorial Committee.

Then, the works will be submitted to anti-plagiarism software. At the end of the preliminary procedure, accepted articles will be sent for peer review, while rejected articles will be archived. Both actions will be informed to the authors via the platform.
