EMOTIONAL ASPECTS PRESENT IN THE LIVES OF AMPUTEES: A LITERATURE REVIEW

Abstract
The systematization of knowledge about individual’s emotional aspects in
amputation surgery situation is necessary, both for preparation and professional training
of psychologists who act in the area and for the patients involved. This article aims at
elaborating a literature review about emotional aspects in the life of patients submitted
to limb amputation. The method was a literature review, prioritizing a retrospective
character. The selection was based in indexers of scientific production (PePSIC, SciELO,
LILACS), covering the period 2009-2014. As results, we found ten studies. There is a
scarcity of publications about the theme; the majority of papers are in periodicals
focused on Nursery; the studies do not include the family relations or relation doctorpatient; most of them treat about the emotional aspects of the patient during the
period of postoperative. We conclude that the scarcity of works and the characteristics
of those that already exist point to the necessity of new studies
