This article proposes an investigation of the production of architecture in contemporary urban contexts: in the current scenario of scarcity of resources and ineffectiveness of the planning of the present and the future city, it is necessary to explore alternative forms of action that involve participatory and hybrid processes of architectonic production. The idea of architecture as infrastructure is built upon the investigation of open forms throbbing with possibilities, aiming for maximized results for extreme contexts: devices connected with the reality that feeds and reframe the urban dynamics. The discussion relates conceptual investigations with examples of architecture, proposing an update of the concept of infrastructure within the current production system, rereading the role of architecture in contemporary contexts.
