OS CADERNOS DE DESENHO DE EDUARDO SOUTO DE MOURA
Keywords:
Sketchbook – Drawing – Eduardo Souto de MouraAbstract
The architectural design works by interdisciplinarity, crossing information and images rescued from different sources, including the architect's own experience. This material constitutes repertoire for designing new ideas. A characteristic of some architects is using sketchbooks that keep all sorts of notes, sketches of new designs, numerical annotations, thoughts that should be materialized before getting lost in the day to day memory. Souto de Moura is one of those architects who always carry his sketchbook, as it is also a professional agenda. As a disciple of architect Álvaro Siza, for whom design is first of all pleasure, Souto de Moura has learned that paper and pencil explain better than words. His sketches are noisy, very often there are so many overlapping lines that it is difficult to identify the object, others are clear and objective. It is the hand of the architect working at the speed of the mind.
