Modern architecture on the beach: houses on Pernambuco beach, Guarujá
Keywords:
Projetos residenciais, Arquitetura moderna,Abstract
In the 1960s a young architect designed several houses in Pernambuco beach, Guarujá, São Paulo State, that with their modern characteristics came to form a unique landscape. Eduardo Longo’s “pyramid” houses would become architectural icons during that decade. Other projects, such as those by Miguel Juliano, Paulo Mendes da Rocha, Rodrigo Lefèvre, Eurico Prado Lopes, Décio Tozzi and Sami Bussab, make use of ormal elements typical of São Paulo’s modern architecture, like austerity and respect in the use of apparent installations and materials. This work focuses on these projects, aiming to understand the structuring of space, materials employed and volumetric results in the group of modern residences at Pernambuco beach.Downloads
