Abstract

This paper proposes to discuss the Master Plan for the Municipality of Ipiaú, in the State of Bahia, Brazil, located in the Atlantic Forest surroundings, population of 43.621 inhabitants. It describes the territorial characteristics, the various reference models adopted to elaborate the plan, how was the community participation and which guidelines, instruments and proposed projects, verifying the limitations imposed by specific laws, and the possibilities that come from the City Statement (federal Brazilian law).
