MOTIVATION OF TEACHERS OF RIO DE JANEIRO STATE PUBLIC NETWORK

In 2011, the Government of the State of Rio de Janeiro, through the State Department of Education, presented an Education Program to improve quality indices in the elementary and high school segments. In this context, it is necessary to verify if the educational program tends to motivate the teachers of the respective education network and, in this aspect, the present article aims to identify the factors related to motivation, perceived by the teachers in relation to the program established herein, according to the motivational theory of the two factors, by Frederick Herzberg, whose path includes describing the aforementioned motivational theory, knowing the State Education Program, its origin and objectives, and establishing a statistical framework on the motivation of teachers in a given space and time. Based on a quantitative-qualitative study, interviews were carried out through semi-structured questionnaires, aimed at teachers working in the neighborhoods of Campo Grande and Santa Cruz, metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro, whose results evidenced the perception of the interviewed teachers regarding the motivational factors or intrinsic as well as hygienic or extrinsic factors.
