Abstract

The research focuses on urban planning in the city of Teresina, Piauí State, between 1969 and 2006. The objective of this research is to verify how was the process of urban planning through the proposed master plans with a focus on the last plane. To form the theoretical assumptions that underpin this research seeks to briefly talk about the urban planning process in Brazil and in Teresina. For this research is divided into two periods: before the 1988 Federal Constitution, a period which includes the formulation of the first three master plans for the city of Teresina, and from 1988, when they were made the last two plans. Finally, point out the limits and the future prospects of urban planning to Teresina from the analysis of the final master plan, prepared in 2006 based on the principles set by the City Statute, Federal Law 10257/2001onte
