Abstract

Mindelo's urban settlement uses urban design as study material; as instruments, the layout practice, the building, and the regulatory framework. The theoretical corpus is the result of several moments of city construction, particularly in the nineteenth century, where there is emphasis on the importance of Portuguese military engineering, in particular by the urban Governor-Manager. The vision of the Architectural Heritage should not be restricted to building. The Architectural Heritage in its true greatness, relates to his protagonists, stating a cultural heritage which is the diaspora between metropolis and colony.
