Fontes e Diretrizes da Arquitetura Contemporânea: Uma Reflexão Crítica a Respeito desta Genealogia

Abstract

This work discusses the paths tread by architecture and architectural critics since the second half of the twentieth century. It constructs a genealogy of these paths and of methods and ideas that substantiate the theory and practice of architecture. From the dawn of the twentieth century onwards, it identifies in modern vanguards, with their open, experimental spirit and innovation, the starting-point that led to the dispersion and multiplicity of tendencies that characterize the present architectural stage. It analyses the post-modern, considered as the transformation that brought architecture from modernity to the contemporary situation, debating its historical and critical role. Instead of presenting the evolution of modern and contemporary architecture, it proposes to outline and discuss concepts and parameters that defined this transformation process.
