Abstract

Urban furniture is part of an integrated urban system that interferes in the usage of public space that is directly related to the city infrastructure, apropriation of public spaces and daily urban activities. This issue aims to discuss how environmental impacts are concerned to the design of urban furniture referring the principles of urban sustainability and eco design as a means to the assembly and socialization of those public spaces within a specific urban context.

Doutor em Arquitetura e Urbanismo pelo Programa de Pós Graduação em Arquitetura e Urbanismo da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte; Mestre em Arquitetura e Urbanismo pelo PPGAU/UFRN; Especialista em Marketing Estratégico; Bacharel em Desenho Industrial (Design de Produto) pela UFPE. Professor efetivo desde 1989 do Curso de Design da Unidade Acadêmica de Design do Centro de Ciências e Tecnologia da Universidade Federal de Campina Grande. Atua como pesquisador na área do Design de Produtos e Desenho Urbano, relacionado as questões do Mobiliário Urbano nos Espaços Públicos.
