Keywords:
School architecture, Architectural accessibility, IFBAsAbstract
This article deals with the relationship between accessibility and the built space of the Federal Institutes of Education, Science and Technology of Bahia (IFBA), Brazil. Three IFBAs located at three different regions of Bahia State were chosen for the analysis: IFBA Ilhéus located at the South Coast Bahia’s region; IFBA Eunápolis located at the South extreme Bahia’s region and IFBA Vitória da Conquista located at the Southwest Bahia’s region. Data were collected through a directed observation script that was made by Costa e Silva Junior (2014). Data analysis considered the "Handbook of Spatial Accessibility to Schools" developed by the Ministry of Education and the NBR 9050/2004 – “the Accessibility buildings, furniture, equipment and urban spaces”. The results showed that the three IFBAs feature inaccessibility of people with disabilities.Downloads
