Abstract

ABSTRACT: We reflect on how the journey in search of the memories of their ancestors carried out in “a single word” (2014) by Khady and Mariama Syla, directors of the film, and the paths of the Senegalese presence in Salvador/BA symbolize the searches, past and present, that result in identities crossed by the fight against the individual and collective erasure of our ancestry. Considering socio-constructivism, cultural theories and the presuppositions of Law 10.630/03, we suggest the relevance of educational actions that strengthen the gaps in the fight against stigmas that undermine full black citizenship. In this way, the film is a contribution to educational actions that value our African civilizational heritage.
