ESTIGMA INTERIORIZADO Y AUTOESTIMA: UNA REVISIÓN SISTEMÁTICA DE LA LITERATURA

Resumen
Estudios sugirieron que una de las principales consecuencias del estigma interiorizado es la disminución de la autoestima. Así que el estudio tuvo como objetivo analizar la producción científica sobre la relación entre estigma interiorizado y autoestima. Las búsquedas se realizaron en las bases de datos Psycinfo, Scielo y Lilacs utilizando los descriptores self-stigma y internalized stigma cruzados con el término self-esteem. La muestra fue compuesta por 19 estudios que cumplieron con los criterios de inclusión. Los resultados indicaron una carencia de publicaciones con respecto al tema y una predominância de estudios utilizando muestras de individuos con trastorno mentales. Sin embargo, la mayoría de los estudios encontró una relación negativa entre estigma interiorizado y autoestima, aunque no sea posible identificar una relación de causalidade entre las variables. Por lo tanto la autoestima es una importante variable a ser trabajada en la disminución del estigma interiorizado. Además, se resalta la necesidad de explotar muestras diversificadas para expandir la compresión sobre el tema.
