Judgment of Emotionals States in Schematics Faces Through of Music by Children

Abstract

In the present article it has appraised the musical emotions in children of 5 and 6 years old and also of 7, 8 and 9 years old students. It has used five schematics faces that are representative of emotions (happy, angry, fear, sad and scare) as a non-verbal instrument of judgment of fourteen segments of popular musics of differents styles. The sample was formed of 82 participants. Each child must appoint the face correspondent to the emotion felt transmitted by each music listened. The results show that the factors which presented any meaningful at the choose of the music by the participants were the age and style of music. The children of all age range evaluated recognized the five emotions in the music segments played and the range of rightness increases proportionally with the age. The judgment standard of the children about emotional states has been similar the other studies with classics music.
