Abstract

This article investigates the reactivation of the myth of Orpheus in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Rowling, 2000), the third volume of the saga by British author J. K. Rowling. It is hypothesized that the novel reworks the Orphic archetype through elements such as memory, pain, and sacrifice, proposing a new ethic of heroism in which salvation arises from inner strength and emotional bonds. The methodological approach is qualitative and interpretative, based on comparative analysis. Finally, it is argued that, by casting the Patronus charm, Harry Potter resignifies the Orphic lyre, transforming his pain into an act of resistance against self-erasure and memory into a source of symbolic power.
