Abstract

Sincethe first universitiesin the Middle Agesto the present dayyou can seemany differentcampusesanddifferentwaysof relating tothe city. Accordingly, this articleaims to analyzethe characteristics of anopen urban campus, and contributionstothe qualificationof the sameurban space, creating collective spaces. For this,there will be ahistory ofuniversities, modelscampuses, the relationshipof theuniversitycampusand thecollective spaceandNeighborhoodUniversityof Santiago de Chileand the UniversityDiegoPortales(UDP). Thus, it ispossible to observethe characteristics of theopen urban campusas a possible modelmoresuitable forthe creation ofcollective spaceswithquality. It is hopedthat this workwill contribute tothe areain the elucidationof the formation ofcollective spacesprimarily insettingcampusmoreintegratedwith the city.
