The territory formation process and urban landscape transformation includes a number of events and agents that brand the local history, leaving marks on the territory. In the case of river landscape, these events many times are linked to hydrological processes, overflows, floods and inundation. The aim of this paper is to present the analysis of the relationship between the plasticity of the river Paraibuna and Juiz de fora society, resulting in the transformation of its river landscape and ordering its territory over time. For this, there were produced thematic cartography highlighting the noticeable features of the territory, and also photographs and site visits, added with the research on its history. We realize the importance of Paraibuna and its landscape as conformers of the genesis of urban occupation and shaft potential of structuring the territory. We conclude that the major changes in the river landscape emerged as a form of response to natural hydrological processes rivers, ordered by an urbanism system directed to the roads and disconnected from nature.Downloads
