This paper analyses the formal aspects of the Maringá Municipal Library building, seeking its design references. The comprehension of the metropolitan architecture ideas incorporated in small and medium cities hinterlands is very important when urban modernization is taken into account. The building, inaugurated in 1975, is a referenced in the modernist architecture, specifically for its béton brut aesthetics, which resonates with the works of architects from São Paulo and Curitiba in the post-Brasília period. Thus, the analysis method focused on social environment, physical context, symbolic and cultural contexts, functional issues, and formal solution. These criteria demonstrate the configuration of a hybrid architecture.Downloads
