Brazilian Children's and Young Adult Literature constitutes a significant body of literary production both qualitatively and quantitatively. Given this context, through a case study, this article presents an analysis of the presence and/or absence of literary fiction for children and young adults in the Language Teaching degrees at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of São Paulo. The investigation provides categorical questions to reflect on the preservice teacher education, regarding to the literary sphere, in K-12/Basic Education in Brazil
