Empoderamento e feminismo negro em Um defeito de cor, de Ana Maria Gonçalves

Abstract

A character inspired by Luísa Mahin, mother of the poet Luiz Gama, Kehinde, from A defect color [Um defeito de cor] (2011), by Ana Maria Gonçalves, brings in her work the concept of empowerment in contrast to the concept of intersectionality, that is, the oppression of gender, race, class and sexuality. This concept permeates black feminism. Although empowerment is still an unconsolidated concept in view of the various obstacles imposed by society, and when talking about female empowerment there is always the notion of individuality, Kehinde brings to light problems that permeated and, even today, permeate the daily lives of black women. The objective of this work is to demonstrate how this whole process occurs in the narrative.
