Unsubmissive Critique
Álvaro Lins and the resistance to the mystifications of theory
Keywords:
Álvaro Lins. Literary Criticism. Journalism. Literary Theory. Rodapé CriticismAbstract
The article proposes a reflection on the arguments of the literary critic Álvaro Lins in defense of the practice of journalistic criticism as an intellectually rigorous activity and apt to deal with the complexity of the literary phenomenon. The posture of caution and skepticism in relation to the real ability of monistic and generalizing theories and systematizations to fully account for the complexity of literary reality is one of the hallmarks of the thought of the literary critic from Pernambuco, one of the most important and influential representatives of the so-called Crítica de Rodapé.
