Abstract

This article presents a comparative study between the memory of real cases of femicides explored by the Brazilian writer Patrícia Melo, in Mulheres empilhadas (2019), and by the Argentinean Selva Almada, in Garotas mortas (2018). Methodologically, we debate the need to name feminicide as a sexist punishment code according to Rita Laura Segato (2013) and Lia Zanotta Machado (2019). Through literary studies, we analyze the narrative strategies that incorporate the memories of these crimes into the textual fabric, breaking the boundaries between the real and the fictional as a mark of the “post-autonomous” literary aesthetics, according to Josefina Ludmer (2009).

Carlos Magno Gomes é professor de Teoria Literária e Literaturas da Universidade Federal de Sergipe (UFS). Faz parte do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Letras Profissional (PROFLETRAS/UFS) e do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Crítica Cultural da Universidade do Estado da Bahia, (UNEB). Tem título de Doutor em Literatura pela UnB (2004), com pós-doutorado em Letras Vernáculas, pela UFRJ (2007), e em Estudos Literários, pela UFMG (2013).
