This essay proposes some reflections about changes in the author’s role and the ways of consuming culture based on considerations about the technological changes that have affected the materialization of literary texts since the creation of the mobile press in Western Europe and especially since the 1990s, when the popularization of personal computers and internet access led to unprecedented challenges for authors and readers.
