Abstract

The article aims to establish a brief history of the transmission of Greco-Roman texts, addressing the materials that supported their writing. The most common artifacts used will be verified, such as ceramics, papyrus, and parchment rolls, the making of the codex, the innovation of paper, the revolution of Gutenberg’s printing press and the dissemination of books, and finally, the electronic text stored in more recent computational artifacts. Thus, it is proposed to describe the changes in text reproduction and classical permanence, and the insertion of digital technologies in Classical Studies, resulting in digital editions.
