Between the CLG Edition and the Anagrams
A critical reading on the principle of linearity of the signifier
Abstract
This article aims to analyze the principle of the linearity of the signifier, in the General Linguistics Course (CLG) and in the manuscripts on anagrams. To analyze this Saussurian principle, I start with the proposal for a critical reading of the CLG – as a work that converges Saussure’s speech, the students’ listening/writing and the recreation of the editors – supported by the critical editions of Godel (1957), Engler (1968) and De Mauro (1974). It is understood that the proposed reading will allow a different look at the principle of linearity, in view of human speech and the saussurian anagram.
Keywords: Saussure. Linearity of the signifier. Anagrams. Critical reading. General Linguistics Course.
