This study reflects on Ferdinand de Saussure’s works in Portuguese, pondering about the extent to which the translation process interferes with the theoretical value of the translated text and therefore with the way Saussurean works are received in Brazil. To that end, we present a review of some of the textual marks in Course in General Linguistics and in Writings in general linguistics that demonstrate the techniques their translators used, followed by an analysis of the translated works considering these marks and demonstrating
their effects on how the Saussurean theory is understood.
