Positions and displacements of “layers”
Abstract
The article discusses in metahistoriographic terms the adoption of the notion of layers in historiography of linguistics researches in order to capture, in a dynamic view, the development of language studies. Our ultimate goal is to gain a better and more accurate understanding of what and how something happened or not (at a given time) in the history of language study.
