Abstract

Abstract: This study aimed to investigate parental support’s influence on athletes’ involvement with female indoor soccer. The subjects were 10 athletes from Londrina-PR. As instruments it was used the Embu scale and a semi-structured interview. Data analysis was conducted through descriptive statistics and content analysis. Results showed a perception of positive family relations, affective and financial support and engagement from de parents. Other highlighted factors were: few parents with restrictions about the sport; family, social and cultural influence to initiation; pleasure and dedication with the practice that is growing in the national context.
