Abstract
This article has the aim of discussing the concept of progress and its contradictions in modernity, within an idea related to Social Psychology. Beginning with the concept of modernity and focusing technology as a basic element of its developement, the existing progress of modern society acts in a contradictory way against the development of human potentialities. In this sense, some basic psychological factors, which are consequences of this society`s way of living are detected, as well as supply new orientations for the participation in Social Psychology.
