The Social Function of Clinical Psychology in Present Times
Main Article Content
Abstract
The constant verification that new psychopathologies have been appearing in the contemporary psychological clinic calls for reflection that shows the urgent need to rethink theory and practice. Thus, we consider that the return to human emotional experience as a fundamental clinical problem will avoid both the error of objectifying and abstract theorizing and the adherence to counselling modalities that no longer cater to emergent needs. Finally, we show ourselves in favor of a position according to which the knowledge of the psychoanalytic method, which aims essentially at the understanding of the experiential field in which subjective experience takes place, is a safe enough basis on which clinical psychologists’ creativity and inventiveness can lean in their search for practices that can truly transform human life.
