Family Relationships and Divorce: Contributions of Mediation

Abstract
The emphasis of this paper is to present the role of mediation for helping parents to renegotiate their relationships valuing and encouraging cooperation after the divorce. Divorce provokes grief, family change and the need for new family roles. Mediation helps couples to redefine their roles as parents as well as create new family boundaries through a process of negotiation in order to avoid possible future disputes.
