The Construction of Persuasion in the Letter ‘Helen to Paris’ in Ovid’s Heroides

This article aims to investigate the construction of argumentative dimension in a classical Latin text, drawing on concepts from Linguistics, Semiotics, and Rhetoric. The focus is on analyzing the argumentative mechanisms present in Letter XVII of Ovid’s Heroides, highlighting how they contribute to the character’s persuasive strategy. Through the analysis of selected excerpts, the study seeks to understand how rhetorical resources are articulated in the discourse to produce specific effects of meaning.
