Between being and having: The fictional space in the construction of the unusual in Kentukis, by Samantha Schweblin

This work aims to reflect on the spatial construction and the narrative resources used for the construction of the unusual in the work Kentukis (2018), by Samanta Schweblin. We will consider the fictional space in two spheres. The first is the fictional space of being a kentuki and the ambivalence of the space occupied by the character of being and not being in the fictional space through the kentuki. The second is the fictional space of having a kentuki and the relationships between intimacy, exposure and surveillance. We will analyze the fictional space from the point of view of researcher Claudia Barbieri (2019), who presents the fictional space as an active agent of the work, in constant dialogue with the characters and that makes up what the author calls "symbolic cartography". How does the fictional space work to conceive the unusual elements and set the narrative? What is the contrast between the two spheres of fictional space analyzed in the work?
