Abstract

This article examines the construction of meaning in two versions of a hospital newsletter: before and after the simplification process by the Simple Language guidelines. For this, the study will investigate the generative trajectory of meaning, in terms of textual content, under the prism of Greimasian semiotics, passing through the fundamental, narrative, and discursive levels. We try to confirm the hypothesis that it is possible to keep the meaning of the informative text in a simplified document, pointing out the differences in the path that distinguishes it from the original version.
