An intermediatic analysis of <i>The Hobbit</i> and “Misty mountain hop” from Elleström’s communication model

This article intends to demonstrate media modalities and modes’ characteristics according to the study developed by Elleström (2017) in the application of analysis in specific media products, the novel The Hobbit (1937) by JRR Tolkien and the song Misty Mountain Hop (1971) by the rock musical group Led Zeppelin. The steps followed are brief exposure of media products anchored to a historical production context, description of media modalities and their respective modes, approach of qualifying aspects of media and explanation of what will be considered mediation, representation and transmediation according to the studies by Elleström (2017).
