This article is the result of the research of the doctoral thesis still in progress which aims at analyzing gender inequalities in cities with a focus on poor women living in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro to promote a debate still missing in the field of urbanism. In this sense, we present a literature review author that discuss (i) the importance of feminist critical theory in this time of transition paradigm of modern science, (ii) the issue of recognition and redistribution in public policy, (iii) vulnerability categorie regarding discussions on urban spaces that serve as theoretical-methodological support for the reflections from the data collected in some favelas, namely: the Morro da Providência, Babilônia e Chapéu Mangueira. The goal is to show the importance of analyzing gender inequalities in urban studies so that we as architects and planners overcome conceptions "universalist-modernist" in our proposition both in scale and in the planning of urban design. We divide the article into four parts: (i) introduction we explain the motivations, objectives and our methodology, (ii) the second part we call the perspective of redistribution and recognition of gender in urban policy, (iii) third party about possible contributions feminist criticism in the analysis of urban space, (iv) and conclusions. Our intention is to seek to contribute to the creation of a supportive knowing that considers the new and old processes still neglected by social scientific analysis. Not only the professional world, but the very practice of architects (as) planners still permeated by the logic of the "world of men". Bring up data, analyzes and reflections about how poor women are in a vulnerable situation differently in the urban policy and urban planning disregards, is a form of radical awareness about such issues and the cause of our liberation mode of knowledge production.Downloads
