Abstract

Recently, audiovisual works about true crimes have become popular in Brazil due to the contextualization of these stories within social issues. In this article, we analyze, through an excerpt from the documentary series The Evandro Case (2021), how new perceptions about those accused of a crime are discursively constructed based on reports of torture they suffered. To this end, we use French Semiotic theory as a reference, supported by the works of various authors such as Barros (2002), Fiorin (1996; 2000; 2001 e 2012), Benveniste (2006), among others, in order to investigate the projections of person and time as well as the figuration of the text.
