Keywords:
Literary analysis, Bible, NarrativeAbstract
This study aims to analyze chapter 1, verses 1 to 45, of the Gospel of Mark in the Almeida Revised and Updated version of the Bible, following the approach proposed by Robert Alter in the book “The art of biblical narrative”. The analysis of the Gospel of Mark under a literary approach revealed that the narrator uses several constitutive elements of the narrative to weave a complex and mesmerizing text. Thus, closely examining the influence of these elements contributes to understanding the meaning of the narrative, in addition to perceiving the construction of the plot which masterfully invites the reader to become involved.
