Unusual women
the presence of neofantastic in the tale “Pequeñas mujercitas”, by Solange Rodríguez Pappe
Keywords:
Neofantastic, Contemporary literature, “Pequeñas mujercitas”Abstract
In the short story “Pequeñas mujercitas”, by Ecuadorian Solange Pappe (2014), a society of tiny, aggressive, and sharp-teethed women is found by the narratorcharacter. He is not surprised by this supernatural fact and tries, as far as possible, to exterminate them before his brother arrives at the house. In this sense, the present research aims to analyze the story on screen from the perspective of the neofantastic, proposed by the Argentine Jaime Alazraki (2001), showing mechanisms of this kind and the social issues emerging in the book. As a theoretical construct, the precepts of Alazraki (2001), Ceserani (2006), and Todorov (2004), renowned authors in this area of knowledge, are used.
