THE FIGHT AGAINST FOOD WASTE IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF RIBEIRÃO PRETO:
SOCIO-LEGAL PERSPECTIVES

Food loss and waste is an increasingly worrying reality in the context of food and nutrition security. The municipality must act to combat this issue, and the object of the research is to analyze the theme in the Municipality of Ribeirão Preto, outlining the forms of action of this municipal federative entity in the elaboration of this public food policy. The focus of the research is the analysis of municipal, normative and executive instruments, and the objective of the study is to discuss how, from the local instruments analyzed, it is possible to outline socio-legal perspectives to combat food waste, in the light of the municipal of the municipal performance related to the theme in the Municipality of Ribeirão Preto is presented, with a suggestion of possibilities of action for the inclusion of the agenda to combat food waste in the public agenda of the Ribeirão Preto and in the municipalities in general. competence provided for in the Federal Constitution. As for the methodology, the research is interdisciplinary and socio-legal, of an empirical nature. In the bibliographic research, conceptual issues are outlined, and then the collection of data of a documentary nature is made. As a result of the research, a diagnosis of the municipal performance related to the theme in the Municipality of Ribeirão Preto is presented, with a suggestion of possibilities of action for the inclusion of the agenda to combat food waste in the public agenda of the Ribeirão Preto and in the municipalities in general.
