El impacto de la realidad virtual en la educación en diseño
evidencias, brechas y oportunidades a partir de una revisión sistemática

Este artículo analiza el impacto de la realidad virtual (RV) en la enseñanza del diseño de producto mediante una revisión sistemática de literatura (RSL). La investigación se basó en el marco PICO (Población, Intervención, Comparación, Outcome) para guiar la búsqueda en las bases de datos Scopus, Web of Science y SciELO. Los resultados revelan un campo de investigación en maduración, dominado por estudios experimentales que comparan la RV con métodos tradicionales como el boceto a mano y el modelado CAD. La evidencia apunta consistentemente a un impacto positivo de la RV en la implicación de los estudiantes y en la mejora de competencias proyectuales, sobre todo en la percepción espacial y la calidad de los diseños conceptuales. Las variables más medidas incluyen “usabilidad y satisfacción”, “implicación y actitudes” y “desempeño y calidad del proyecto”. Se concluye que la RV es una intervención pedagógica viable y eficaz. Sin embargo, persisten lagunas de conocimiento significativas: una fuerte concentración geográfica de estudios en Asia y Europa, con mínima investigación en el contexto sudamericano, y la falta de análisis sobre la integración curricular a largo plazo. Por ello, se destaca la necesidad de fomentar investigaciones contextualizadas a la realidad brasileña para implementar marcos pedagógicos innovadores que integren la RV en los planes de estudio de diseño.
