A Relação entre as Transformações Urbanas e a Produção Arquitetônica de Ribeirão Preto entre os Anos 1900 e 1930

Abstract

From the late nineteenth century, the city of Ribeirão Preto was marked by intensive increment of the coffee crop, which fostered the development of the city and its region, activating social and cultural transformations and allowing the emergence of a new bourgeoisie agricultural business. After the advent of the coffee economy, the city of Ribeirão Preto enters the new century before the recent economic possibilities offered. During this period we can observe the evolution of the city’s relationship with the architectural production financed directly or indirectly by the capitalist export economy based on monoculture coffee and rail transport. This paper analyzes the factors of transformation of the city, as well as changes in the architectural and urban production, characteristics of the period from 1900 to 1930 in the city of Ribeirão Preto, arising therefore of culture generated from the coffee capital.
