Abstract

The article discusses the transformations in perceptions and uses of domestic space since the covid-19 pandemic, taking as its starting point the text “I love living here” by Carla Soares. The analysis highlights how confinement has revealed the functional precariousness of contemporary housing and the inadequacy of its spaces to accommodate the multiple dimensions of everyday life. Based on dialogues with authors such as Carlos A. C. Lemos, Renata Marquez, and Wellington Cançado, the study addresses the overlapping functions in domestic environments and the relationship between materiality, affection, and imagination. It also reflects on the role of fiction, material culture, and “trifles” as forms of re-signification and resistance in the face of the spatial and social restrictions imposed by urban living. The text proposes to understand the home not only as a shelter, but as a symbolic and affective device capable of shaping ways of living and imagining the world.
