Keywords:
Discursive Semiotics, Temporalization, PersuasionAbstract
The article presents a Semiotic approach to the classical text, examining a possible application of Semiotic theory in the field of Classical Studies. This discussion of Letter VII (Heroides, by Ovid), begins with the temporal localization and duration, both temporalization procedures in the semiotic structure of the text, of the episode Aeneas and his companions’ departure from Carthage, also considering the other mechanisms and procedures that compose the Discursive Level of the Generative Process. Starting with the opening verses of the Latin text, the rhythm of the narration and its meaning effects for the construction of persuasion are discussed.
