The relationship between burnout and quality of life
Resumo
The burnout should be considered as a problem of extreme relevance for the worker population and it has a social aspect, relating to the mental and physical worker's health causing complications in the quality of the profession and the life of these individuals. The objective of this study was to analyze the vulnerability of burnout and the quality of life levels in the participants. Besides, to compare the life quality of the most vulnerable individuals to this syndrome with the rest of the sample. Participated in present study 52 workers between physicians and teachers. The data collection consisted in all participants answer the Sociodemographic Inventory and Whoqol-Bref and Maslach Burnout Inventory. In the results, 19,2% of the total sample presented high levels of burnout dimensions and these same participants also obtained lower scores in all domains of the quality of life than other participants. These problems can be transformed into a social issue because their consequences extend and affect other people who relate directly to these professionals affected by the syndrome, resulting in loss of quality and even harmful effects to the health and educational system.
