Abstract

The purpose of this research was to verify the possible influence of the corporative values on the organizational commitment. The Mowday and collaborators Scale of Organizational Commitment was administered to a sample of 200 employees of a public organization. The Organizational Values Profile Inventory (IPVO) was used for the evaluation of the corporative values. The personal values structure was considered for the construction of the OVPI. It is composed by eight factors: Autonomy, Conformity, Welfare, Achievement, Tradition, Collectivity, Mastery and Prestige. The alpha coefficients varied between .75 and .87. The stepways multiple regression was used to verify the relation between the corporative values and the organizational commitment. The results showed that organizational commitment was predicted by Prestige, Welfare, Autonomy, Tradition and Mastery. The correlation was positive with the first three and negative with Tradition and Mastery. The explanation of the results is based on the specific goals of each of the involved factors.
