Eating the Last Cannibal
Violence and Memethink as Ideological Maintenance

This work analyzes how violence is discursively legitimized within the intersection of Brazilian evangelical religiosity and Bolsonarist political imaginaries. Examining a viral interview recorded during a pro-Bolsonaro demonstration in São Paulo in 2024, the study mobilizes discourse analysis and the joke of eating the last cannibal to interpret how narratives about the Israel–Hamas conflict are reframed as moral self-defense. The findings suggest that religious identification and nationalist symbolism contribute to the normalization of violence within contemporary political discourse.
