Abstract

Published posthumously in 1978, A Breath of Life (Pulsations) occupies a singular place in the work of Clarice Lispector by transforming the process of literary creation into narrative material. Drawing on reflections on autobiography and autofiction by Philippe Lejeune, Serge Doubrovsky, Diana Klinger and Linda Hutcheon. This article analyzes the interplay of mirroring between the Author and Ângela Pralini. It argues that the work mobilizes autofictional and metafictional strategies that challenge the boundaries between fiction and self-representation. From this movement emerges the concept of the “double mirror of authorship,” in which authorial subjectivity is projected both onto the biographical and the structural planes of the narrative. Writing thus becomes a space for reflection on the literary act itself and on the constitution of subjectivity.
