This paper, a critical account of an Mosaico’s experience [1]- model office of the Mackenzie Architecture and Urbanism’s Faculty -, has an intentity to construct a project’s methodology from an experience that brings into discussion design hypotheses – urban and architectural - housing-oriented. These hypotheses were constructed based on processes of approximation to the study territory (Campos Elíseos’ ZEIS) and its social layers (occupation time, way of life, use of public space, institutional participation), which approach is inscribed in a broader logic (housing in the center area, dispute over urban territory, regulatory framework, urban legislation) fulfilled by local circumstances and specificities. Associated with a transdisciplinary team - constituting the Mundaréu da Luz Open Forum[2] - this experience allowed us to think about the dimension of the project from its emancipatory possibility, as an instrument of social struggle, for the population living in the neighborhood and for vocational training of students, considering the urgency condition posed by the dispute of our urban territories, in the proposition of exploring the role of the University as a formation’s tool, reflection and proposition of alternatives in the search for the constitution of citizenship.
[1] The Mosaic, Model Office of Architecture and Urbanism - EMAU, FAU Mackenzie, is a project developed by the National Federation of Students of Architecture and Urbanism - FeNEA, implemented by students for 14 years, whose main objective is to work in partnership with society. advising social, architectural and urban demands of organized communities, being an important instrument for the academic, professional and social formation of those involved (FENEA, 2006).
[2] In May 2017, several groups and institutions operating in the Campos Elíseos formed the Mundaréu da Luz Open Forum (mainly organized by FAUUSP LabCidade), in order to produce a project, still ongoing, based on observation, listening and participation. of the local population of the neighborhood, with their needs and desires, in a transdisciplinary - multi and interdisciplinary way.
